August 4, 2013 FSSCC released its latest edition of the FSSCC Industry Newsletter. The newsletter was developed to provide the industry with reviews of recent FSSCC and FBIIC efforts and accomplishments; summaries of reports and resources on issues affecting critical infrastructure protection; and announcements of industry events. This month’s edition includes information about the following: Highlights from a speech given by Comptroller Curry on cybersecurity risk; Announcements regarding DHS leadership changes; Information about upcoming industry exercises; Updates on FSSCC efforts; and more.

November 17, 2013 Doug Johnson, FSSCC Vice Chair, Testifies on Cybersecurity On November 18, ABA vice president and FSSCC vice chairman, Doug Johnson, testified during the New York State Senate’s joint public hearing, “Cybersecurity: Defending New York from Cyber Attacks”. In the testimony, given on behalf of the New York Bankers Association, Johnson acknowledged the real and growing threat of cyber attacks against the financial services industry, including its customers, service providers and business partners. January 8, 2014 FSSCC Releases Annual Report The Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security (FSSCC) released its 2012-2013 Annual Report during its December 2013 meeting held in New York. March 25, 2014 Doug Johnson Testifies to Bankers’ Cybersecurity Role On March 26, ABA vice president and FSSCC vice chairman, Doug Johnson told the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee that the financial sector is unified in its efforts to fight cyber crime and is working effectively with public-sector partners to protect the financial system. In his testimony given on behalf of FSSCC, Johnson added that the banking industry strongly supports the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s cybersecurity framework and offered several recommendations for ongoing industry collaboration with NIST.
